Review : Sleek Brow Kit

Saturday, 7 February 2015

If you saw my last post, you'll see that I bought this not too long ago. Its the second lights shade in the range, which I think is a bit of a let down. The only lighter shade than this is one for blonde brows which is great but this was actually a tiny bit dark for me. I would have liked maybe half a shade lighter.

As the packaging, its very standard Sleek packaging. The only thing I find annoying is the tiny little brushes & tweezers. They're basically unusable because they are so small.

When I first used the used the wax, it took some getting used to because i'm so used to using powders. You need to have a very light hand when applying this or it can look very very dodgy. Once I had done the wax I set it with the powder which I actually quite liked.

Is this going to dramatically change the way I do my brows? definitely not. Do I hate it? no. Its just not spectacular. I would say its worth checking out if you're on the market for some budget brow stuff. If you're interested in my brow routine its here

Disappointing products #1

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

As a beauty blogger I tend to try quite a lot of products, every now and then I try a product that just doesn't live up to the hype surrounding them. The Garnier micellar water is a prime example of this. When this first came out there was HUGE hype around it saying it was the closest thing to bioderma you could get. I have super sensitive skin and literally anything will make it rear up and go totally mental. I thought because this is marketed towards the sensitive skin market it would be a safe bet for me. Turned out I was wrong, it broke my skin out which made me really sad because I really wanted to like but I just couldn't.

Another Disappointing product for me was the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on shadow pencil. I've never tried an urban decay product that I haven't liked on some level. Whenever I try and use this I find it very hard to get any colour pay off from at all. They're not very smooth at all, and are very hard to work with.

This Wet N Wild fastdrying nail polish in the shade Grays Anatomy . In the bottle this shade looks like a gorgeous oil spill/petrol colour. I found that it didn't dry fast at all and it chipped like no other nail polish I've tried. I would have it on and within an hour it would be significantly chipped.

Have you tried any of these?

Review | Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

Saturday, 10 January 2015

Recently I reviewed the Urban Decay On The Run Palette and found I really loved the 'Perversion' mascara it came with. On first impressions the packaging is really nice and sleek. When you take out the brush from the tube you'll see its quite a big plastic wand. I really didn't think I would like this mascara from just looking at it because I thought it would give me quite thick clumpy lashes which isn't something I like. I prefer my lashes to be nice and long but very separated.

When I first used this I was pleasantly surprised. It makes my lashes very long and thick but also very separated. Naturally I have quite long lashes but this brings them to a whole other level. My mam liked the look of it on me so much she went and bought it for herself. However, she did love the look it gave her lashes but it did run a little on her. So that might be something to bear in mind if you're prone to that.

It's definitely my new favourite mascara and is a staple in my makeup routine. Once my small size runs out I'll definitely be buying the full size.

Have you tried it? Did you like it?

Soap And Glory Supercat Eyeliner | Review

Sunday, 2 November 2014

You can never have to many liquid liners. I was shopping the other day and picked this up in boots for €8. I think that's such a steal for what this eyeliner is.
The packaging, as with most soap and glory stuff, is so cute. The only thing about the packaging is that the top of the pen doesn't click onto the bottom when you use it. A really minor thing, but its something that annoys me because it makes me afraid i'm going to lose the lid.
As for the actual liner itself, it's really dark and pigmented. It makes it really easy to get a nice thin line or a thick one depending on which you fancy. For  doing a flick on the end its super easy to use too. For me it did take a bit of getting use to because i'm not used to the whole marker scenario. Once I did get the hang of it though, I really really liked it. It lasts ages too which is always lovely.

Review: Gosh blush in 39 electric pink.

Wednesday, 20 August 2014

I was looking through my Blush collection earlier on and I found this, and Remembered I never did a review on it. This is some thing I bought a while back, I really liked the colour and I quite liked the idea of a bright pink blush.

At first glance I really liked the packaging but overtime it just gets grimy and dirty looking. The name  ' Electric pink' causes to you to think that it would be a really pigmented bright pink. Not the case at all.

When I swatched it I was disappointed to find that it was more of a rosy light pink colour, and not much like the colour in the pan. When you go to apply it to the cheek, it takes a good few swipes in the pan to get any pigmentation out of it. When applied to the cheek, it does give a nice flushed look, but it doesn't last very long which is a big downer.

Have you tried this? What did you think?

Review: Wet N' Wild Megaliner

Friday, 13 June 2014

Sorry for the lack of posts guys I've been off sunning myself in sunny spain! but onwards and upwards. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past couple months you'll know that Wet N' Wild has landed on Irish shores. And all Beauty bloggers basically lost their shit over it. I really wanted to try this liner as it had been hyped up and talked about a lot on blogs and such.

On first impressions this liner looks pretty good. It as nice really slick looking packaging and the brush feels solid yet moveable at the same time. A really good combination in a liquid liner. As for the formula i'm not a big fan. It applies nicely and its not too runny, which is a problem I've come across with some liquid liners. It applied a really nice pigmented dark black. As it wore for a few hours it started to fade. When I finally took it off at the end of the day the edges of my winged liner weren't as crisp and clean as they were at the start and the colour was less pigmented.

Overall I would not be a fan of this liner. I wouldn't recommend it as there are better liners out there for the same price or cheaper even.

Also if you guys look in the side bar there's a button to nominate me for the Irish blog awards 2014 and I'd really love you guys to nominate me ;)

Review: Sleek ShowStoppers Palette

Thursday, 3 October 2013

Hey guys! So Recently I picked up the sleek ShowStoppers Palette from Cloud10 Beauty. The Palette is limited addition so if you are interested in it, I would defiantly act quick!
The Packaging the Palette first comes in is a little box with the crushed eyeshadows on it. Quite The Gruesome scene. When You take the actual palette out of the packaging its in quite ' sleek' ( See what I did there;) ) Nice looking packaging and is presented really well.

Outer Packaging

Theres a really good range of colours and neutrals and also shimmer and matte shades. My personal Favourite shimmer shade being Sunset which is a nice shimmery slightly burgandy colour and Bohemian is my favorite matt shade which is a nice coral colour which will be beautiful in the spring time. From the research I have done before doing buying this product I have discovered that this is the first sleek palette in which the shades have been given individual names.

The Overall Pigmentation of the palette is good although I found it very hard to get any colour payoff from Paraguaya. Also when i applied graphite to the lid it went from being a sparkly brown colour to a dark grey shade. A bit Odd if you ask me. But overall I really Liked this palette the shades are long lasting and Pigmented( for the most part). The only real problem i've come across is a little bit of fall out and also the colours do crease. Even After all the Cons of this product I Would still really recommend this palette.
Swatches

Sparkle on the lid and Graphite in the crease.
Pro's

  • Good Range Of neutrals and colours
  • Good range of shimmers and mattes
  • Inexpensive
  • Good Packaging
Cons:

  • Creases easily
  • Some Shades don't apply as they appear in the pan
  • Some shades aren't that pigmented
