2013 : A year in photo's.

Monday, 30 December 2013

2013 wasn't a great year for me personally. A lot of shit happened that i'm hoping to leave behind.  I'm really hoping for 2014 to be better because, to be honest I can't really see how it can be worse.

The photo on the top left is one that I took when I was at Ed sheeran in the 02 on the 12th of january. By far one of the best concerts i've ever been to in my life. He's so amazing live!

The next photo is my god-daughter. She's two now and is one of my favourite people ever.  She's so cute and her love for Peppa pig would make anybody's heart melt.

The photo on the right is myself, my best friend Ciara and my friend Elizabeth on our last day of classes in third year. Kind of sad because I really liked my class, we all got along so well.

The next two photo's are from the day I went to Tramore with my friends! We took a road trip down and spent the day at the fun fair and on the beach. It was one of the best days from the summer!

The next two photo's are from when myself and my friends went down to the beach in feathered on sea? ( I don't know how to spell it! But it was near hook head). We spent the day on the beach, and we road tripped down in my friends ' Hippy Van '. Its probably one of my favourite memories, ever.

The next photo is of a night out I had with some of my friends, it was great! A really fun night.

The last Photo is one I took with my best friend Ciara on the night of our junior cert results. It was a great night. We went out for a meal and had a movie night. We had quite a tame night compared to some.

So in summary 2013 was a pretty shit year, and i'm really hoping for 2014 to be much much better. I'm hoping to pack loads and loads in and not just be stuck behind a computer screen wasting away my life.
But then again in the words of  John Lennon ' Time you enjoyed wasting is not time wasted at all.'

Tis the season for glitter and red lips...

Monday, 23 December 2013

Since its christmas, its time for red lips and glitter. With any red lipstick I've found they just don't suit me. Until the other day I was browsing in boots and I came across this little beauty. The natural collection moisture sign lipstick in crimson. It's a really nice Orange/pink toned red. My new obsession with glitter liner is thanks to Rebecca Nugent. I think it makes everything so christmasy and cute. The one I used courtesy of Rebecca's recommend is by collection and is in the shade 1 Glitz. My eye makeup is the natural collection eyeshadow in barley with lots of different brown tones blended through the crease.

My favorite blogs of the year so far

Saturday, 21 December 2013

I've had bloggers block for quite a while lately thats why you'll notice my last few
posts haven't been my finest. So I was flicking around my blogger dash and This idea came to me. I was thinking about possibly making this a monthly/ more regular thing maybe? As in the words of Dermot o' Leary these are in 'no particular order'.

Lovely Girlie Bits

Lovely girlie bits is a blog run by two Irish sisters. They do lots of reviews, hauls, tutorials the lot! I love how funny and quirky they are and it really shows in their posts and makes them really funny! Definatly worth checking out.

Meghan is a 20 year old from California. She does amazing fashion & beauty posts. Her Outfit of the day posts are my personal favourite because she has AMAZING style. Not to mention the design of her blog is so so pretty! She's mainly a youtuber though so if you want to know more about her definatly check that out.

Kacey is a 19 year old youtuber from california also! Her blog has really unique posts and series' and I personally think her makeup is totally fab. Like Meghan she's a youtuber too. she tends to do really good in depth reviews on her youtube channel. Her eye makeup tutorials are my favourite though.

Sprinkle of glitter is run by louise who's from the UK. She has a little daugter called darcy who she posts about regulary and she is one of the cutest children I have ever come across. You just want to pick her up and snuggle her up. She does lots of fashion and beauty posts too!

The Christmas Tag

Saturday, 14 December 2013

Image from Weheartit

So it looks like I'm basically the only blogger on the planet who hasn't done any christmasy posts! I'm sorry about that because christmas is one of my most favorite times of the year, But anyways I've seen quite a few fellow bloggers do this tag so I thought i'd give it a go!

1. Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or synthetic?
Real defiantly! My family have always had a real tree except for one or two years when my brother and sister were really young. I think real tree's are so much better! They might need a little more care but they're worth every little bit. The smell of a christmas tree always reminds me of waking up early on christmas morning to see what santy brought!

2. You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick?
My favourite drink of the moment is the costa white hot chocolate. Going to be gutted when I can't get it anymore!

3. Whats your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?
I love how red & silver/white looks together on a christmas tree! I just think the colours compliment each other really well.

4. Giving or receiving?
I love going shopping and picking out people's presents.  I also LOVE wrapping presents. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like receiving gifts though.

5. To mince pie or not to?
Definatly not. Ew. Does anybody actually like mince pies?

6. What's your traditional Sunday lunch?
Usually Chicken/Turkey, Potatoes, & stuffings. I Love love love stuffings! Probably my favourite part of dinner if i'm honest.

7. Christmas day fashion.
I love wearing comfy clothes on christmas day because I always eat waaaay too much food and gain a food baby or two.

8. What's your favourite Christmas song?
I love fairytale of new york by the Pogues. My school has a fancy dress day on the last day of term before christmas holidays and its so so fun because my whole school belts out ' Ye scumbag, ye Maggit , ye cheap lousy Faggit!' Simply because we can haha. I really love Mariah Carey's cover of All I want for christmas is you because who doesn't?

9. What's your favourite Christmas film?
My favourite christmas film is probably the first home alone movie. I love watching it with my family on christmas eve. Its so funny no matter how many times you've seen it.

10. Open presents before or after lunch?
Before! Who the hell can wait all afternoon to open presents?

Tis the season!

Sunday, 24 November 2013

Since its getting closer to christmas party season I thought I would do a post of my favourite Christmas party dresses I've found.

The First and cheapest (always nice) dress of the lot is a red body con dress with gold detailing from Dorothy Perkins for €30. I really like this, you can dress this down with a pair of nude flats or go all out with gold heels and gold accessories. Personally I'd go for the latter.

Next up is a really pretty loose black sparkly dress. I would probably steer away from this if you do have broader shoulders as these tiny spaghetti could emphasize that, but hey if you feel confident go for it! I think this would look really well paired with Black shoes and all black accessories.

And finally, This topshop dress is so so so pretty! Its probably not everybody's cup of tea but I personally think its adorable. Its really cute and girly and it can be worn all year round. To make it really christmasy I would wear all gold accessories.

Thoughts & Opinions: Naked 3

Thursday, 21 November 2013

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past couple of weeks, you'll know that urban decay have confirmed that there will be a naked 3 palette along with some photos of the palette.

Saying that i'm really disappointed with this palette is an understatement. The palette is pink/rose toned and theres a range of mattes and shimmers. I find that pink eyeshadow really don't compliment my skin tone/ eye color at all. There are some browns in the palette but theres only four so nothing remarkable.

Compared to the naked 1 & 2 this is like the oddball in the family. Have to say i'm defiantly not a fan.

How I style : Plaid

Sunday, 10 November 2013

Unless you've been living under a rock the last couple months you'll know that plaid is one of this seasons biggest trends. I got this red & black plaid dress from Pennys (primark if you're from the UK)
for €17. Quite reasonable for something on trend if you ask me. I would defiantly not pay expensive for something plaid though. You never know when it'll be back in season again. So as for how I styled this piece, I kept it fairly simple. Paired it with plain black tights and plain black Brogues/oxfords. You could easily dress this up to go out with a pair of over the knee socks and heels with a leather jacket.

Dress & Tights: Pennys/Primark

Shoes: New Look

Sunday, 3 November 2013

So quick post from me today guys, Since next week will probably be very hectic with school and such I won't get to post much sadly. So for my foundation I used my holy grail Revlon photo ready foundation. Love Love Love. My blush is babydoll from essence. For my eyes I used barley from the natural collection all over my lid. Not gonna go on and on about, if you've been here any length of time you've heard me rave about this. Then I used Milk Chocolate from the natural collection in the crease, and natural collection liquid Eye liner. I've really liked using the Showstopper mascara by NYC on my lashes lately. It gives then a really nice effect. And finally my lip colour is a mixture of the pink punch babylips and strawberry shortcake revlon lip butter.

Review: Collection Cream Puff Lip Creams.

Sunday, 27 October 2013

So the Other day I was in boots ( A real shocker I know) And I saw these at the Collection stand and thought 'Hey they're under a fiver why the hell not'.

I got them in 2 out of the 3 shades that were there. There was also a nude shade but I thought it wouldn't suit my skin tone so I left it. The colours that I did get however are a nice light pink colour called 01-Cotton Candy And A sort of coral orange colour called 03- Fairy Cake.

The Scent of these, I personally love, is really sweet and it really reminds me of the Yankee candle birthday cake scent. I love it but maybe its not for everyone.

These shades are both lovely but maybe not the most suitable for Autumn. These are A matte Lip cream so obviously they are going to be a bit drying which will be a pain for most people during the winter months.

As for the lasting power of these i'd say it's just okay. The only real problem i had with these is the way they wear off. They tend to crease and smudge and leave that nasty looking lipstick line. Not the most flattering.

For under five euro I would say these are good products. Defiantly not holy grail but good none the less.

Autumn Trends: Pastel Pink

Friday, 18 October 2013

So if you guys have been around my blog for any length of time you guys know my favorite colour and most of all pastel pink! So this trend is right up my street. Plus it can brighten up dull autumn wardrobes!

A really easy way to incorporate this trend is in a parka, it might be too warm in some parts of the world but in ireland its like the feckin Arctic! I kind of wish I had of waited and bought this one instead of my big parka from pennys, but hey what can you do! Anyway this pretty pink parka is from and at €40 its definatly worth it! Let me know you guys' fave autumn trends!

Review: Sleek ShowStoppers Palette

Thursday, 3 October 2013

Hey guys! So Recently I picked up the sleek ShowStoppers Palette from Cloud10 Beauty. The Palette is limited addition so if you are interested in it, I would defiantly act quick!
The Packaging the Palette first comes in is a little box with the crushed eyeshadows on it. Quite The Gruesome scene. When You take the actual palette out of the packaging its in quite ' sleek' ( See what I did there;) ) Nice looking packaging and is presented really well.
Outer Packaging

Theres a really good range of colours and neutrals and also shimmer and matte shades. My personal Favourite shimmer shade being Sunset which is a nice shimmery slightly burgandy colour and Bohemian is my favorite matt shade which is a nice coral colour which will be beautiful in the spring time. From the research I have done before doing buying this product I have discovered that this is the first sleek palette in which the shades have been given individual names.

The Overall Pigmentation of the palette is good although I found it very hard to get any colour payoff from Paraguaya. Also when i applied graphite to the lid it went from being a sparkly brown colour to a dark grey shade. A bit Odd if you ask me. But overall I really Liked this palette the shades are long lasting and Pigmented( for the most part). The only real problem i've come across is a little bit of fall out and also the colours do crease. Even After all the Cons of this product I Would still really recommend this palette.

Sparkle on the lid and Graphite in the crease.

  • Good Range Of neutrals and colours
  • Good range of shimmers and mattes
  • Inexpensive
  • Good Packaging

  • Creases easily
  • Some Shades don't apply as they appear in the pan
  • Some shades aren't that pigmented

Autumn Loves And Lusts
1) Snood- Boohoo / 2) Chloe Roses Perfume/ 3) Leather jacket- New Look/ 4) booties- Fashion Union/ 5)Kate Moss Lipstick Shade 19 & Revlon colourstay Lipstick in Silhouette

1) During the Colder months I really do love me a really warm snuggly scarf. When I saw this one I just fell in love! Its plain cream so it'll go with basically any outfit.  And I love the little bits  specs of colour throughout it too

2) I got a little sample of this when I was in Debenhams the other day and I fell in love with it. Its just smells like warm wintery goodness to me.

3) Ahh the leather jacket. I do love me a good leather jacket. My current one is starting to look a tad really ratty lately so, I think its time to invest again. I LOVE this one from new look, I saw it and fell in love. I'm off to visit my local to see if they have it! ( Fingers crossed they do)

4) I love little booties in the colder months because the look cute and they keep my feet warm. This year I'm really Loving Little Chelsea boots. Because I'm only 5'4 I love the extra height some of them give me.

5 Products Under €5: Eyes

Tuesday, 27 August 2013

Hi Guys! So I've been seeing a lot of these types of posts going around the interwebs latley, so I thought I would Part take!

First Off Primer, Im not sure of the price of this primer ( I <3 Stage By essence) but I am entirely sure that it comes in under €5. I love this primer it holds my eyeshadow in place all day long, and for under €5 what more do you need really? It does exactly what it says on the tin! The only problem i have with this is that it can be kind of yellow toned, and you can see it if its not blended properly, but really its not a big deal.

Next up are the Natural Collections Eyeshadows! Oh my gosh, these are so pigmented and long lasting and amazing.  The Colour I'm showing here is Barley, A really gorgeous gold colour. These are so cheap and well worth the around 1.30? I think I paid for them.

If you guys have been reading my blog for any length of time You'll know how much i love this mascara! Oh My gosh its my favourite!  It Lengthens and gives my lashes volume. I have quite naturally curly lashes so the curling aspect of this really isnt something I can test very well. But it lasts all day on me but comes off quite easily at the end of the day.

You guys are probably sick of hearing me rave on and on about this product so im just going to link you guys to the original review.

Last but by no means least is the collection lasting perfection concealer, I love this it covers my under eye circles really well and lasts pretty good too.

Maybe This is Wishful thinking, probably mindless dreaming..

Hey, Guys So I thought I would put together a wishlist of my most lusted over fashion items! Would you guys like a beauty version? or maybe this could be a monthly thing?

The Beauty Blogger Tag

Sunday, 21 July 2013

Hey guys! so i was looking around for some new post ideas and I came across this tag and I thought it sounded like fun!

Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?

I have been Blogging since December of 2012. My first post was An essence eyeshadow review! I started blogging beacause I'd wanted to do it for some time, and It was somewhere for me to show my love for all things makeup and fashion related!

Whose blog did you fall in love with first

The first blog I really really liked was Fluer's. A blog I still love now! But i have to say my favorite is YourAlmostAlice

What was the first blogosphere hyped about product that you bought? Was it worth the hype?

Ooh this one is quite tough. I guess the product I bought because of all the hype was the MAC pro-longwear concealer. Was it worth the hype? Honestly, I don't Think so. Don't get me wrong its a really really good product but I have found other concealers that are just as good for way cheaper.

What are you four favourite things about blogging and being a Beauty Blogger?

1) Getting to share my thoughts and opinions about products!

2)Getting to Know other bloggers, I love meeting people with the same interests as me!
3) I find writing posts quite joyful and I love writing, it would defiantly be something I would love to do for a living when i'm older.
4)Having an excuse to buy new products to review;)

What have you learnt from being a Beauty Blogger?

Definatly that honestly is always best. Theres no point in saying you like a product if you don't, people are reading your reviews to get an honest recommendation of a product.

Have you changed anything since becoming a Beauty Blogger?

Not really no, I've learnt how to work themes and headers and such though.

What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?

I would say, Post as consistently as possible, but also try and make your posts good quality but always remember, Quality not Quantity.

What are your top 3 makeup brands?

Essence- Amazing quality for such affordable products. A great range and I really just love their products

NYC- Really good products, again for a good price but they have particularly good bronzers, blush and mascara.

The Natural Collection-  They have an amazing range of eyeshadows, that are AMAZING quality.

Recommend your top 4 beauty products!

1) Revlon Photo-Ready Foundation- Amazing, My everyday go to foundation!
2) Essence eyeshadow Quattro (Review linked above)
3)Nyc City Curl mascara- Curls, Lengthens and seperates
4) Sigma Brushes! My favorite brand of brushes because they're not crazy expensive and they're such good quality

Review: Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream.

Thursday, 18 July 2013

Hey guys! So a while back I took a trip to boots and as I was going on holidays to spain a little while after I decided to pick it up and give it a try. I was quite Enticed by the pretty packaging and  Its many promises. I have only tried one other BB cream before this and it was the Garnier one.

Coverage: The Coverage as with most BB creams is very light. I tend to like a more full coverage foundation usually, but for the warm weather I just wanted something light weight. I built the coverage up by using a concealer. This is perfect if you have good skin with not many Blemishes. I also found that it didn't sit in any dry patch's I had

Shade Range:  There is not a great shade range with this with only 2 shades (light and dark.),but fortunately for me the light shade was an almost exact match for my skin tone.

Price:    I found this product to be quite expensive for the amount of product you get at 11.99 for just 30 ml.I also find it takes quite a lot of product to actually get my desired coverage.

Pros:                                                                                             Cons

  • Good Shade range                                                          Only two Shades
  • Light Weight                                                                    Expensive

Makeup For Beginners!

Sunday, 30 June 2013

Hey Guys Emma Here:) So I know there's a lot of young girls out there who are really interested in makeup or maybe older people who just want to get into makeup!

A Light Coverage Foundation/BB cream - Since you're probably not used to feeling that much makeup on your skin, I would defiantly go for a lighter coverage foundation to start out. From there you can try to find what sort of finish you like and what colour's suit your skin. I would also not recommend spening a lot of money on this because you might not like it. I have recently bought the maybelline 'Dream pure BB' Cream.

Concealer -  To cover blemishes and under eye circles, For under eye circles I would go a shade lighter under the eyes just to brighten it up. Once again don't go and spend loads of money on it because you might not like it. My personal favorites are the mac Pro Longwear and the Essence stay natural.

Powder- I use powder just to set my makuep, and sometimes to get a bit of extra coverage. My personal Favourite is Rimmel Londons clear complexion powder in the translucent shade.

A Neutral Eye shadow pallet   - To do a very nice light eye, perfect for anything. My personal Favourite is The essence eye shadow quattro is really good for such little moolah! If you want a review click Here

A Lipstick thats your lips but better!-  A lipstick thats fairly close to your own lip colour but more red/pink, which ever you prefer.
